Austin Design Week 2016

In a city with hundreds of designers and design-based organizations, it is surprising that Austin does not have a dedicated Design Week. Design Weeks have been successfully carried out in cities all over world as a way to celebrate, educate, and bring together different design disciplines.

With so many talented people working in areas like product design, user experience, architecture, graphic design and fashion, what would happen if we brought them all together?

Introducing the first inaugural Austin Design Week.

Austin Design Week is an opportunity to unite the design community around similar languages and approaches while highlighting the different design facets Austin has to offer. The free, week-long event happening November 7-11th will focus on bringing together those working in visual, interactive, product, architectural, civic, fashion and environmental design to name a few.

Do you have design-based projects that you are particularly proud of, or that have given you new insights into your work? Maybe you or your company are interested in supporting the greater design community by hosting a open studio tour or event in your space. Austin Design Week is a chance to support the wider design community and explore the intersections of design in one of the nation’s most creative capitals.

We anticipate having an amazing mix of local designers apply. Selections will be made by the Austin Design Week Advisory Committee made up of leading designers and community members in Austin. Accepted entries will be notified by September 26th.
