#bossbabesATX Third Anniversary Fundraiser

  • The Refinery 612 Brazos Street Austin, TX, 78701 United States (map)

#bossbabesATX is turning three.

And you're invited. On May 18, 2018 from 7 to 10 PM at The Refinery (612 Brazos St.), we'll host an intimate fundraiser to gather donations for our ongoing operations, recognize our nonprofit's accomplishments and share our strategy for the next three years.

If you've been keeping up with us, you know the last three years have been a wild and rewarding ride. Through our programs have contributed more than $1million to the economy in support of women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and organizers. Our productions have connected 900+ women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and community organizers to financial opportunity, and we have hosted more than 20,000 guests in women-run, women-organized spaces. We have chosen to stand up for Texan women and amplify their voices with our money, time and support.

Attendees' will have the opportunity to support our work on May 18 through a raffle and pledge cards. Tickets are $50, and all proceeds will help keep the lights on and our productions accessible.

Get the night's full agenda below.

THE VIBE

For this year's anniversary party, we're playing disco in the desert, creating our own oasis. The night's theme will play on a poem our founder wrote last year exploring the growth of the organization and our community in 2017.

You cannot threaten me
by forcing me into the ground.
Pack the soil solid.
Rub my face into the dirt.
I will take root in this earth,
like my mother and her mother did.
In a few weeks, I will sprout quietly.
My leaves waxy
my stem thick
my petals soft.
How?
How did she continue to exist?
Darling, this is how flowers grow.
To bloom is to resist.

wine by Wine For the People
Wine For the People is committed to cultivating community through wine culture and events with a greater impact. They see art in connecting to each other and the beauty we can make from the earth with our own hands. Their team believes it is important for a wine to have a sense of place, as it is to contribute to our own sense of place in Austin and the larger world.

cocktails by Austin Cocktails
Austin Cocktails is family-owned by independently accomplished entrepreneurs and sisters, Kelly Gasink and Jill Burns. They prepare their line of drinks using five-times distilled vodka and premium tequila both made in a continuous column still. The result? A mix of all-natural herbs like mint and basil, fresh fruit juices, and a splash of organic agave nectar to create craft cocktails with a crisp finish that are full bodied, well balanced and naturally low-calorie.
