SEEKING: Creatives for Shift Change Dress Project
Shift Change is a community fashion/art project led by Tina Sparkles, a local designer, author, activist and teacher. Her aim as an artist is to explore the existence of fashion outside the world of commerce and capitalism. She originally developed the "dress as blank canvas" idea as a way to express her visual art and to communicate her own political and social messages. She is interested in testing the power of the dress medium beyond her single voice and is inviting the community to join the conversation with Shift Change.
- Participants will each receive an A-line shift dress pattern and will use it to make a dress that will serve as a blank canvas for their art or message.
- Any materials or techniques can be used to customize the pattern -- the only rule is that you must not change the shift silhouette of the dress.
- The deadline for finished dresses is December 1st. There will be an exhibition for the dresses that same week (details TBA).
- Fill out this form to participate and email Tina Sparkles at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
