Self-Defense Workshop by Dojo Dames

  • 500 East Cesar Chavez Street Austin, TX, 78701 United States (map)

Sexual harassment at conventions around the world has become so common that prominent organizations have been formed against it, well-known guests have dropped their names from attending lists, and both women and men have been stripped of their dignity and disrespected because of it. Amanda Allen is both a cosplayer and self-defense instructor, and she is sick of it. It's time to take conventions back and defend the right to cosplay whoever you choose, and dress however you please, without having to worry about groping hands, disrespectful comments, or your own safety.

Amanda's workshop will teach you how to use your most powerful weapon –your voice– to reject unwanted attention, and will teach you when and how to use your body to defend yourself against an attack – even if you're dressed head-to-toe in spandex! The workshop will be hands-on, and focus on mental and physical awareness, leaving you with a feeling of empowerment and confidence. By taking this workshop, you make a commitment to speak out, speak up, and kick some butt when it's needed!

It's time to stop letting creeps harass you, your daughters and your friends and become more than just a cosplayer, but also a superhero. For more information click here.
