In this interactive workshop participants will gain knowledge on foundational terms and concepts related to substance abuse and recovery through a presentation of information and open discussion. We will review DSM criteria for substance use disorder and how these criteria could present in session, explore when referral to treatment is appropriate, review the different types of treatment options and resources available in the community, and discuss substance abuse/addiction within the context of the criminal justice system and its impact on clients. Come prepared with questions or scenarios you would like to explore.
