COME TO ONE OF OUR BIMONTHLY, AUSTIN MEET-UPS.
What's the vibe?
Our bimonthly meets are a space for people to meet the crew behind #bossbabesATX and members of their community. At these meets, we host mixer activities, showcase a selection of vendors and interactive booths AND get 30 women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and organizers in Austin on the mic to share their stories, passions, ideas and social causes. (All professions, all genders, all people welcome.)
SO, WHAT ARE BABE ANNOUNCEMENTS?
Babe Announcements are an open-mic: Women proclaim their passions/their purpose/their intentions to the community (mostly about work or a project they've got in the making, collaborations they're seeking, etc.). We let 35 women onstage and sign-ups are open to all attendees.
Becoming an announcer:
An announcement is a one-minute call to action—you can speak on the launch of your business, discuss job opportunities and mention potential collaborations. These announcements serve as a moment to engage others in the particular cause/movement/business you represent (you're inviting people to continue the conversation with you—more info on that here). Announcers should:
attend one #bossbabesATX prior to making an announcement
promote businesses/ventures they head or own (unless it's a non-profit)
submit their announcements to email@example.com, or via the event's Google form, including their name, a website to reference and a brief synposis of the announcement at least seven business days prior to the meet date
WHAT DO I do AS AN ATTENDEE?
Just come on out! We don't require memberships, and this is not your normal networking event. There will be a time for networking, there are activities, you will feel awkward. BUT THIS IS THE TIME TO BE AWKWARD, SO EMBRACE THE AWKWARD. LET YOURSELF BASK IN THE AWKWARD. You won't make friends with everyone, and that's okay. We don't expect anyone to show up and behave like a contact-making droid. Whether you meet your new BFF or your new employer, keep an open mind and remember everyone's probably just as nervous as you (if they aren't, they've likely come before).

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
We suggest bringing business cards, as well as paper and pen to take notes on during announcements!
IS IT OKAY TO HAVE QUESTIONS? CONCERNS?
Please remember that we aren't perfect (as a people, generally, as women, generally, and as an organization). We are attempting to create a safe space, so REACH OUT. We've thankfully had people reach out in the past, and that's made our events all the better. Ultimately, we love y'all and want you to have a good time within the parameters of the event.
