COME TO ONE OF OUR quarterly AUSTIN MEET-UPS.
What's the vibe?
Our quarterly meets (held in February, May, August and November) are a space for people to meet the crew behind #bossbabesATX and members of our community. At these meets, we host mixer activities, showcase a selection of vendors and interactive booths AND get 25 women and nonbinary creatives, entrepreneurs and organizers in Austin on the mic to share their stories, passions, ideas and social causes. (All professions, all genders, all people welcome.)
SO, WHAT ARE BABE ANNOUNCEMENTS?
Our announcements are one-minute slots for women and nonbinary creatives, business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals, thought leaders and community organizers to share their ideas. Whether you're announcing something you need (or are looking for), a cause you'd like community support on, a collaboration, a project you're launching, your business services, etc. our mic is a place to get the word out. We've had announcements from teen start-up owners to Wendy Davis, so seriously—claim that mic and submit.
how do you become an announcer?
The second we release details on a meet, our announcements submissions are open. Announcers should:
attend one #bossbabesATX prior to making an announcement
promote businesses/ventures they head or own (unless it's a non-profit)
submit their announcements to firstname.lastname@example.org, or via the event's Google form, including their name, a website to reference and a brief synposis of the announcement at least seven business days prior to the meet date
who can attend these meet-ups?
Anybody interested in our mission and values. :) At #bossbabesATX, we don't require memberships to attend our networking events, and this is not your normal meet-up anyway. This is a space to learn more about the community you live in and support initiatives, businesses and creative ideas driven forward by women and nonbinary folks. There is no dress code, and all professions are welcome.
You won't make friends with everyone, and that's okay. We don't expect anyone to show up and behave like a contact-making droid. Whether you meet your new BFF or your new employer, keep an open mind and remember everyone's probably just as nervous as you (if they aren't, they've likely come before).
PS: MEET-UPS ARE THE TIME TO BE AWKWARD, SO EMBRACE THE AWKWARD. LET YOURSELF BASK IN THE AWKWARD.
How can i become a vendor AT A MEET?
Check out this FAQ.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
We suggest bringing business cards, as well as paper and pen to take notes on during announcements!
IS IT OKAY TO HAVE QUESTIONS? CONCERNS?
Please remember that we aren't perfect (as a people, generally, as women, generally, and as an organization). We are attempting to create a brave space, so REACH OUT. We've thankfully had people reach out in the past, and that's made our spaces all the better. Ultimately, we love y'all and want you to have a good time within the parameters of the event. Feel free to email email@example.com if you have any questions.
