WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

THE FUTURE FRONT HOUSE FEATURES:

  • The Future Front House offers a 1200 sq. ft. space for creative community gatherings, workshops and rentals. The space has been designed for intimate community events for five to 100 guests.

  • Come through for Future Front workshops, art shows and community meet-ups, as well as programming by and for artists and creatives within the Austin community.

  • At The Future Front House, event rentals are only $125 per hour, as part of our commitment to making creative community space available.

Any and all income goes directly toward covering the space’s hard expenses ($5,000 per month), as well as staffing costs. This supports our effort to offer to the space for free or at a subsidized cost for artists and creatives with community goals.

  • The Future Front House offers an affordable $175 per month, 9-to-5 weekday co-working option for creative types in Austin.

  • On the side of The Future Front House, you’ll find an historic mural by local artist Chris Rogers. In the spirit of that mural, we’ll soon introduce public art on the front facade of the building.

  • Nurtured in collaboration with community members and partners, The Future Front House will eventually home a creative garden and wildlife habitat.

  • The Future Front House supports a number of our collective-care initiatives, including affordable creative space, micro-grant programs for women and LGBTQ+ creatives and neighborhood projects.

Why does this space exist?

Why does this space exist?

The Future Front House is run by women & LGBTQ+ creatives — open to all.

Through The Future Front House and our flagship programs, we hope to continue creating opportunities for artists and creatives, funding community cultural events, developing community-building educational resources, offering subsidized access to space & nurturing free, public arts programming.

We also hope to live up to the legacy of our block.

From soil to cement, our building has a long history that precedes us. We acknowledge and honor Austin’s Black Cultural District, the diverse Indigenous peoples and all elders—past, present and future—who have shaped and continue to shape this land on which we gather. We invite you to celebrate their active cultural contributions, causes and traditions, too. Make space and tend good relations here and now.

The culture of our city is defined by community imagination and experimentation. We can’t wait to see what you make at The Future Front House.
