Membership At BBATX Is Finally Here
You can finally become a member of bbatx.
After experimentation and beta-testing, extensive Google doc collaboration (all. the. comments.) and the clarifying hellfire of 2020, we are officially launching bbatx’s first-ever membership!
We have been working toward launching a membership program, since we became a nonprofit in 2017. It's something you have all asked for, and something we now know to be crucial when it comes to community communication in crisis—so this is big, lovely, long-time-coming news. Designed as a digital learning community, our membership is an online space, where you can:
• discover friends, collaborators and mentors in Texas
• share your story and seek professional guidance
• explore creative and entrepreneurial approaches to work
• learn new skills (from design-thinking to financial self-care to inclusive leadership)
• connect to underrepresented creatives, small business owners and leaders in your community
Becoming a member is only $17 a month and you’ll have free access to most of our events, workshops and programs. Moreover, every dollar will help us do what we do and contribute to more than $300,000 in support for the community per year.
Here are four things about membership we've worked hard on—and think you'll find interesting, too:
1.) *Who is this for again?
bbatx's membership is distinctively for multicultural, multi-industry leaders in Texas looking to grow. It's a space for you to connect and share your work.
Whether you're launching a project, transitioning careers or exploring community-building, our membership is supported by a robust digital dashboard and forums that help you connect to one another, share your story and find things you need.
2.) *Why should you join?
Your membership gets you free access to the majority of our workshops and discounted access to our conferences and trainings.
We know that historically it's been difficult to keep up with all of bbatx's events and opportunities. Membership makes it easier to stay involved. Your membership dashboard contains access to our workshop archives, all of the events on our calendar, as well as free applications to our festivals, micro-funds and markets.
3.) *What values do we share?
Our membership has been designed to support you—it's not a promotional platform and it's not a therapy group. It's a digital community space rooted in our values.
2020 made us increasingly more aware that community spaces are vital—and gatherings like ours are vital. Like all of our programs, bbatx's membership has been driven forward by feedback from our team and created with our values in mind.
4.) *So, what makes us special?
Your membership makes our work possible, too. When you join, 50% of your membership goes directly into our commissions, grants and community initiatives.
We want to build a sustainable, thriving organization—one that models the future we imagine for ourselves and other leaders in Texas. Even if you don't want to make use of your membership perks and the digital learning community, becoming a member makes our programs possible.

This org has always been an experiment in real-time. For those who have been following along, you know that this started with just $100 and a couple of meet-ups. We have learned through trial and error what it looks like to make space, and we're learning more everyday. We appreciate your support and feedback over the years—you got us here. #feelings
As always, when we try something new, we want to stay true to who we are, too. bbatx will never be a members' only organization tucked behind a paywall. We are a nonprofit, and all of our programs will remain public. So, even if you aren't ready to be a member, you can always get involved in other ways here.
