The Elephant Table Dinner Series: A Real Good Time With Judith Rizzio

On February 18, we’ll be joining our friends at The Elephant Table for a collaborative dinner party with activist and stylist Judith Rizzio and Real Good Food founder Jim Dixon. Come learn about Rizzio's journey launching a business at 65 years old, eat good food and mingle with people doing good work.

— ABOUT THE DINNER —

The Elephant Table is an intimate dinner series by co-founders Hope Furst and Beth DiBaggio. As a creative and chef respectively, the two founders have been supporters of bbatx over the years (Beth has even donated and curated one of our annual anniversary dinners!). We’re excited to join them for this special conversation this month. Here’s more about the dinner from Hope and Beth:

We have the incredible opportunity to feature the inspiring life stories of husband and wife power couple, Jim Dixon and Judith Rizzio, coming all the way to Austin from Portland, Oregon. At age 65, these two are living and loving life to the fullest, pursuing their dreams and empowering others to do the same.

Jim, a self-proclaimed "recovering food writer and accidental olive oil vendor", is the founder of Real Good Food, a highly-curated gourmet food shop in Portland, Oregon. One of the top food writers and critics in Portland for almost 20 years, Jim opened his business after traveling to Italy and importing olive oil for himself, which led to selling to the best restaurants in town. Last year, Jim opened the Real Good Food store front and online shop to the public, with the belief that everyone should have access to real good food.

Judith, a self-proclaimed "style activist", is the founder of Out of Our Closet. Through her work, Judith helps women of all ages realize their power and potential through fashion. Her inspiring journey was recently featured on the Today Show and written about in Narratively. Judith believes fashion should be affordable and accessible for everyone.

A Real Good Time, will feature both Jim and Judith's work, passions and love over the table. Judith will be sharing her styling approach including a curated thrift and vintage pop-up shop with clothing found right here in Austin, while Jim will be serving you his most popular recipes, incorporating local Austin ingredients and favorite items from his shop, for dinner. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase and take home Jim's favorite ingredients from his store with our a Real Good Food pop-up shop.

Supported by some of Austin's best creatives and collaborators, you can expect A Real Good Time to be, well, a real good time.

The Elephant Table is a collaborative pop-up dinner concept. We provide a unique platform for talented chefs, creatives, and brands to showcase their work through intentionally curated collaborations over the table. Each group is selected, from the chef and designer to the photographer and guests, with the intention of elevating each others' craft and feeling connected to the experience and the people who created it. As a guest, our goal is for you to leave empowered and inspired by an unforgettable experience, new friends and ideas, and the magic that results from a thoughtful collaboration.
